What We Do

Our services include qualified Personal Life Counseling, Life Coaching, Art Therapy, Art Therapy workshops, the Mindful Self-compassion (MSC) 8-Week Professional course developed by Kristin Neff and Chris Germer, the Make Friends with Yourself (MFY) 8-week course developed by Lorraine Hobbs and Karen Bluth especially for teens and young adults, as well as Mindfulness Meditations workshops and classes.

Our Facilities

The Lemon Tree is located 111 Baja Drive in Pierre, South Dakota, USA.

Our welcoming space is used for one-to-one life counseling sessions, Art Therapy sessions, Art Therapy workshops, the Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) 8-week professional course (open to everyone), Mindfulness meditations workshops, the Make Friends with Yourself (MFY) 8-week course for teenagers and young adults.

For your convenience and well-being, we offer complementary organic teas (black and herbals), cold and hot water, and an assortiment of healthy bars in case you feel a need for a sweet treat.

Mental Health and Life Coaching, The Lemon Tree offers a non-judgmental and safe environment to people seeking help in dealing with difficult issues in their life.

It is a place of peace and healing, respect and acknowledgment, safety and care, with no religious affiliations and welcoming everyone regardless of culture, sexual orientation, age, beliefs, religion, background... 

The aim is to support you to unleash your own resources and strengths, while developing emotional well-being, reducing anxiety or stress, maintaining healthy habits and satisfying relationships. Our role is to gently guide you throughout challenging times on your life journey. We can teach and give tools adapted to your needs. Ultimately also supporting you in your personal process of developing self-acceptance and self-compassion while reducing self-criticism.

Qualified practitioner


   Emmanuelle Barone moved to Pierre SD in 2014. She is from Adelaide, South Australia, and was born in France

(which you may notice with her french accent..).

   In Australia, as a Licensed Mental Health Social Worker and Counselor, she has worked in various fields including

   Child Protection, Community Development, Counselor and Advocate with refugees survivors of torture and trauma, 

   Team Leader with young people having intellectual disabilities, Mental Health Social Worker with Veterans as well as

   in Geriatric Crisis Care. She has also run her private practice in Australia as a Therapist/Counselor and Art Therapist.

   In 2014, 2016 and 2018, Emmanuelle trained with Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer, Steve Hickman, Michelle Becker,

   Lorraine Hobbs and Karen Bluth, UCSD, University of California San Diego, Center for Mindful Self-Compassion,

and is now a Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) Trained Teacher as well as a Make Friends with Yourself (MFY) Trained Teacher. See CMSC website, http://centerformsc.org, for more information.


   She opened her practice, The Lemon Tree, in Pierre SD in July 2015.

   Emmanuelle is currently a PhD Candidate at the University of South Australia (UniSA), researching the process of MSC when

   applied in clinical setting with adult survivors of child maltreatments.
